We rebuilt it in 3D from the drawings of Studio Architettura Soldano, down to the September construction drawings: dimensions, windows, verandas, orientation. The village around it is the real one, from the Region's surveys. The model is measured, not generated.

The village, measured.
Duino is a village of a few streets between the Karst and the sea. From the gate you walk to the little harbour, the Rilke Path and the Castle, where in January 1912 Rilke began the Duino Elegies: these homes take their name from there. By car, Trieste and the airport.

Money paid before the deed is covered by a bank or insurance guarantee, as Italian law requires (Legislative Decree 122/2005). Prices exclude VAT. Each home has one outdoor parking space included; four more can be bought separately, €20,000 each.
First floor
Upstairs, the veranda.
The first-floor homes have a glazed veranda with a railing above the gardens and, in some rooms, the timber of the roof left exposed.
03 · The light
The sun, hour by hour.
The verandas face south-south-east. Pick a day and a time: light and shadows are calculated for Duino, with the real terrain, houses and trees.

How it is calculated
Calculated on the outer glazing of each veranda (for home 1, on the edge of the porch), one and a half metres up, every five minutes, with the terrain (the Region's LiDAR), the neighbouring houses and the building itself. The second figure also counts the trees as solid crowns: the strictest count, since in winter many crowns are bare. No clouds; sunrise and sunset are those on a clear horizon.
04 · How it is built
Built in layers.
As you scroll, the building goes up as it will on site, from the foundations to the roof.
Upturned reinforced-concrete beams.
Sized on the geological report and the structural calculations; under the ground-floor slab, a ventilated air gap.
X-LAM timber walls and floors.
Cross-laminated spruce panels, CE-marked. The roof rests on glulam beams; in some first-floor rooms the timber is left exposed.
Rock wool outside, laminated glass.
The insulation does not burn (class A1). Thermally broken windows in anthracite grey, with laminated low-emissivity double glazing.
Solar panels for every home.
The flat roof, ballasted with river pebbles, carries each home's solar panels. On the street side, vertical-slat shutters.
Gardens, hedges, parking.
Evergreen hedges and native Karst plants; parking in permeable concrete, each space wired for an electric-car charger.
And inside, no gas.
